In 2002 Andrew joined the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America as the Senior Graphic Designer in the Internet Ministries Department. In his time with the Archdiocese, Andrew has designed web-based e-learning tools, website templates, printed marketing collateral, and graphics for iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile apps. Andrew had the unique opportunity in the fall of 2006 to travel to Istanbul, Turkey as a part of the team responsible for promoting and broadcasting live the historic visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Andrew began his design career as a freelance graphic designer with several businesses across the greater Boston, MA area. During this time he gained experience working in all types of digital media including web design, audio and video editing, 3D modeling, and Flash-based animation.
In 1999 Andrew joined a Seattle-based e-learning company as a freelance production designer and was soon promoted to a Senior Graphic Designer position. He designed cutting-edge web and CD-ROM-based e-learning projects for a variety of high-end corporate clients such as The Princeton Review, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, Kohler, and Healthy Companies International.
Andrew was raised in Worcester, MA and now resides in Peabody, MA with his wife Rita and their two children. He and his family are actively involved with their parish of St. Vasilios in Peabody and Andrew has been serving as a high school Church School teacher and a youth ministry leader since 2002. He earned a BFA from Syracuse University in computer graphics, a degree mixing computer science and art. He has taught several web design workshops and seminars as well as youth and adult studio and computer art classes.
In the summer of 1991, Andrew was invited to Walt Disney Studios in Florida to share his sketchbooks with Jesse Clay, a Walt Disney Studios Illustrator, and his colleagues in the animation department. It was on this trip that Andrew was inspired to pursue a degree in the field of computer art and design, given a very tiny, behind-the-scenes glimpse of Walt Disney’s Aladdin (which was in production at the time), and invited to share a round of golf with Jesse on one of the Disney golf courses.
A self-proclaimed specialist in movie, cartoon, and television quotes and a cooking enthusiast, Andrew also enjoys disconnecting himself from his computer to reconnect with a paintbrush, pencil, and canvas. He especially enjoys painting or drawing with his children (when he is not playing pirates, helping to prepare a princess for the ball, or playing board games with his family). His newest interest is in photography and he especially enjoys the challenge of capturing the unscripted, spontaneous, and memorable moments in life.
